it probably means that the ipod neads a low level harddrive format.
Regular hard discs have a boot sector so the computer knows where to find the information on it when its corrupted it cannot find this information. So the easiest is to bring it to a apple store. I have seen the stores in new york where you bring your apple stuff and they fix it while you are there. very cool
